A good way to get to know other each other in a safe and caring environment. There is no pressure to attend all events – just the ones you’d like to go to. If you need a ride, there’s always a spare seat.

Walks – during the past six months there have been walks along the Hutt River Trail; Camborne Walkway; Korokoro Dam and Te Whiti Riser. These walks suit most fitness levels. Usually following each walk is an optional trip to a local cafe.

Dinners out – we’ve had lovely meals and conversation at Sea Salt Cafe (Eastbourne), Mr J’s Kitchen (Petone); Featherston Street Bar & Grill (Wellington CBD); Speights Ale House (Petone).

Outings have included a trip to Matiu (Somes) Island – followed by dinner; Southward Car Museum – followed by lunch at Waikanae Beach Cafe and a swim; another lunch trip to Waikanae Beach Cafe – followed by a swim and a bit of beach cricket (for those wanting to work off their lunch!)

Entertainment – we’ve had a games evening; 10-pin bowling at Strike; potluck dinner and trivial pursuit; Christmas party; and trips to the movies.

February weekend getaway – a group of 15 headed away to Foxton for a weekend at a book a bach. They were joined for a pot luck lunch the next day by others who preferred a day trip. A fun weekend with swimming; music; playing cards; and happy hour.

In March a high-tea was held with around 20 attendees (some dressed to the nines!). A fabulous afternoon/evening event was enjoyed by all.

We are always on the outlook for ideas for social events.
