A good way to get to know other each other in a safe and caring environment. There is no pressure to attend all events – just the ones you’d like to go to. If you need a ride, there’s always a spare seat.

Walks – during the 2024 year, we have had walks along Petone Foreshore and Eastbourne towards Pencarrow. During 2025 we would like to organise more walks which will suit most fitness levels. Usually following each walk is an optional trip to a local cafe.

Dinners – we’ve had lovely meals and conversation at Featherston Street Bar & Grill (Wellington CBD); the Petone Club, Potluck Dinners, and BBQs at some of our member’s homes.

Outings have included the Beat Girls at the Botanic Gardens Soundshell, Leaving Jackson – The Johnny and June Carter Show at St James Theatre, movies at the Penthouse and Lighthouse Petone, watching the All Blacks at the Petone Club, a tour of Government House, Days Bay Pavillion concerts, quiz nights, a picnic at Williams Park in Days Bay. One of our members is very crafty and held a card making night.

In the planning for summer 2025, we are likely to return to Waikanae Beach Cafe – followed by a swim and a bit of beach cricket (for those wanting to work off their lunch!)

Our annual Christmas party was held at the start of December, a dinner and dance at the Petone club the following week and end of year post Christmas BBQ will be held in the last week of December.

In April 2025 – a small group will head off on an Asian cruise for 9 days. Travel around New Zealand or overseas doesn’t need to stop when you no longer have a partner. Other members may like to travel with you. We are always on the outlook for ideas and social events.
